The most powerful Syrian kingdom of the Middle Bronze Age, centred on Aleppo and dominating northern Syria through a web of vassals and alliances for nearly 150 years.
Sacked c. 1600–1595 BCE by Hittite king Mursili I, who destroyed the capital Halab (Aleppo) and carried captives and booty to Hattusa; the dynasty was briefly restored before being driven from Aleppo for good by Mitanni king Parshatatar c. 1524 BCE, after which the territory was absorbed into the Mitanni kingdom.
