The Jutish kingdom of the Isle of Wight, traditionally founded by Stuf and Wihtgar in 534 per the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle, the last pagan Anglo-Saxon polity in Britain and long linked culturally to Kent.
Overpowered by Wulfhere of Mercia in 661, then finally conquered and forcibly converted in 686 by Cædwalla of Wessex, who killed the last king, Arwald, ending the kingdom's independence and folding the island into Wessex.
