White Croats

A Slavic tribal proto-state north of the Carpathians (in modern southeastern Poland and western Ukraine), distinct from the Dalmatian Kingdom of Croatia; a southern branch migrated to Roman Dalmatia in the late 6th/early 7th century and became ancestors of the medieval Croatian kingdom, while White Croats proper persisted in the Carpathian homeland until conquered by Vladimir the Great of Kievan Rus' in 992.

Conquered and absorbed by Vladimir the Great's Kievan Rus' in 992; the homeland population was gradually assimilated into surrounding Slavic polities (Poland, Rus').
