Wendat Confederacy (Huronia)

1300 – 1650
Native nationNorth America

A confederacy of farming towns packed onto the Penetanguishene peninsula, Huronia was the corn-rich hub of the French fur trade until the Haudenosaunee shattered it in a single brutal winter.

Destroyed 1649–50 in the Beaver Wars: most survivors were absorbed by the Seneca or fled to Christian Island, with one Christian remnant founding Wendake near Quebec City, where the Huron-Wendat Nation endures.
