Watson Brake is the oldest known earthwork mound complex in North America, built by Middle Archaic hunter-gatherers in present-day Louisiana circa 3500 BCE.

Abandoned by its Middle Archaic builders around 2800 BCE, after a construction span of roughly 3500–2800 BCE; the site was not reoccupied and no direct successor polity is identified.
