Not an ending: English encroachment, epidemics, and the wars from King Philip's (1675-78) through Dummer's drove the Sokoki, Cowasuck and Missisquoi from Vermont and the upper Connecticut valley north to the mission villages on the St Lawrence. Their descendants hold Odanak and Wôlinak in Quebec under the Grand Council of the Waban-Aki Nation. Whether the communities remaining in Vermont constitute a continuing land-holding people is disputed.
