The Bourbon viceroyalty ruled from Santa Fe de Bogota, knitting together the Andes and Caribbean of the far north of Spanish South America.

Created in 1717, suppressed in 1723, re-established in 1739; collapsed in the independence wars and was succeeded by Bolivar's Republic of Gran Colombia (1819-1822).
