• 1831 Dissolution of Gran Colombia Venezuela and Ecuador seceded in 1830 and the union was formally abolished in 1831, fracturing into Venezuela, Ecuador and New Granada.
• 1991 Yanomami territory demarcated Brazil demarcates the 96,650 km² Yanomami Indigenous Territory (presidential decree May 1992 after the 1991 campaign), and Venezuela follows with the Alto Orinoco–Casiquiare Biosphere Reserve (1993), forming the largest forested indigenous land on earth.
• 2017 Warao exodus from the delta As Venezuela's economic collapse deepens, thousands of Warao leave the Orinoco delta on the long road to Pacaraima and Roraima in Brazil, and on to Guyana and Trinidad — one of the largest displacements of an Amazonian Indigenous people in modern times, scattering the ancient 'boat people' across borders.
