Early Bronze Age culture (c. 2600-2000 BC) of the coastal and interior Oman peninsula (modern United Arab Emirates and northern Oman), named for Umm an-Nar island near Abu Dhabi. Its people were important regional trading intermediaries between Sumer in Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley Harappan culture, and were known to the Sumerians as 'Magan.'
Gradually transitioned into the Wadi Suq culture from c. 2000 BC amid changes in settlement pattern, animal husbandry, and trade; no abrupt collapse is evidenced.
Standard reference for the prehistory of the Gulf/Oman peninsula, covering Umm an-Nar, Magan, and Dilmun together.
