Tümed Khanate (Altan Khan)

Right-wing Mongol khanate of the Tümed under Altan Khan, who founded Hohhot, forced the 1571 trade-peace ('tribute market') with Ming China, and re-established Tibetan Buddhism among the Mongols after meeting the Third Dalai Lama in 1578.

Submitted to the rising Manchu state after Ligdan Khan's collapse; reorganized into the Tümed (Guihua/Köke Khota) banners of the Qing c. 1636.
