Sovereign stateAsia

British-protected union of Arab sheikhdoms along the lower Persian Gulf coast (Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm al-Quwain, Ras al-Khaimah, Fujairah), bound by 19th-century truces suppressing maritime raiding.
