Transnistria Governorate

The Romanian-administered occupation zone between the Dniester and Southern Bug, with its capital at Odessa — conquered from the USSR in 1941 and run by Romania under the Tighina Agreement with Germany, though never formally annexed.

Romanian civil administration ended 29 January 1944; the region passed to German control (official 1 April 1944) and was retaken by the Red Army that spring (Odessa, 10 April 1944).
