Timurid Empire

Founded by Timur (Tamerlane), the Timurid Empire was a Turco-Mongol state that devastated much of western and central Asia before its rulers became renowned patrons of Persian art and architecture in the 15th century.

Conquered by the Shaybanid Uzbeks under Muhammad Shaybani Khan, who took Samarkand in 1500 CE and Herat in 1507 CE, ending Timurid rule in Central Asia; a Timurid prince Babur escaped to found the Mughal Empire in India in 1526 CE.
