450 – 531
KingdomEurope

A Germanic kingdom in what is now central Germany, first attested in written records in the 5th century during the period of Hunnic dominance in Central Europe and the collapse of Western Roman authority there; its early boundaries are uncertain but its heartland roughly matches the modern German state that still bears its name.

Came into escalating conflict with the Merovingian Franks and was destroyed as an independent kingdom at the Battle of the Unstrut (531), after which the region became a stem duchy within the Frankish realm.
