Tahirid Dynasty

The Tahirid Dynasty was the first autonomous (though formally Abbasid-subordinate) Persian dynasty to rule Khorasan after the Arab conquest, helping revive Persian administrative culture in the east.

Overthrown by the Saffarid dynasty in 873 CE when Saffarid ruler Ya'qub ibn al-Layth al-Saffar conquered Khorasan and deposed the last Tahirid governor Muhammad ibn Tahir in 873 CE.
