A Malay Islamic sultanate in southeastern Borneo founded when Raden Samudera (Suriansyah) converted to Islam with Demak's help; ended by the Dutch after the Banjarmasin War (1859-1863) forced its formal abolition in 1860.

Annexed by the Dutch in 1860 after the Banjarmasin War; the sultanate was abolished.
