Ancient state at the mouth of the Yangtze River (modern Jiangsu), outside the core Zhou cultural sphere, prominent in the Spring and Autumn period under kings such as Helü and traditionally linked to the military strategist Sun Tzu.

Destroyed and annexed by its southern rival, the State of Yue, in 473 BC.
