State of Jin

A major Zhou-dynasty state based in Shanxi that dominated north China during the Spring and Autumn period, before being partitioned into Han, Zhao, and Wei in 403 BCE, marking the start of the Warring States period.

The state of Jin was partitioned into the three successor states of Han, Wei, and Zhao around 403 BCE (formally recognized by the Zhou king), an event known as the Partition of Jin that marked the beginning of the Warring States period.
