EmirateAsia

A Kurdish emirate around Rawanduz north-east of Mosul, of medieval origin, most powerful in its revival of 1816–1836 under Emir Muhammad ('Mir-i Kor', the blind emir), who briefly built a strong autonomous Kurdish state before Ottoman reconquest.

Crushed by the Ottoman Empire in 1836, when an Ottoman army ended Emir Muhammad's autonomous state and reincorporated Soran into direct provincial rule.
