Sheikh Muftah Culture

3200 BC – 2000 BC
CultureAfrica

A late Neolithic/Chalcolithic culture of the Dakhla and Kharga oases in Egypt's Western Desert, contemporary with but culturally distinct from the Nile Valley's Naqada civilization.

Continued as a distinct desert-oasis tradition through the Naqada/Early Dynastic transition, eventually absorbed into pharaonic Egyptian administration of the oases during the Old Kingdom.
