Dissolved between 1991 and 1992 as its constituent republics declared independence — Slovenia and Croatia on 25 June 1991, Macedonia on 25 September 1991, and Bosnia and Herzegovina on 3 March 1992 — with the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (Serbia and Montenegro) proclaimed on 27 April 1992 as the rump successor.
