Samanid Empire

819 – 999
EmpireAsia

The Samanid Empire was the first great Persianate dynasty of the Islamic era, patronizing the Persian literary renaissance — including Ferdowsi — and making Bukhara a center of Islamic culture.

Collapsed under pressure from the Ghaznavids and Kara-Khanid Khanate, with the Ghaznavids seizing the southern territories and the Kara-Khanids the northern regions by 999 CE, ending with the death of the last Samanid ruler Ismail II al-Muntasir in 1005 CE.
