Sachin State

1791 – 1948
PrincipalityAsia

A second Siddi state, created in 1791 when Balu Mia, ousted heir of Janjira, traded his claim on the island fortress to the Peshwa for a scatter of villages near Surat; the Peshwa never got Janjira, and Balu Mia's Abyssinian-descended line ruled Sachin until 1948.

Acceded to India in 1947 and merged into Bombay State on 10 June 1948 (Gujarat from 1960).
