Rohilkhand (Rohilla state)

1721 – 1774
ConfederationAsia

Loose confederacy of Rohilla Pashtun military chiefs, first led by Ali Mohammed Khan, who carved an autonomous state out of the Katehar region of the upper Doab as Mughal authority collapsed.

Ended by the First Rohilla War (1773-1774): Shuja-ud-Daula, Nawab of Awadh, backed by British East India Company troops, defeated the Rohillas and annexed most of Rohilkhand into Awadh, with a rump principality surviving at Rampur under a client Nawab.
