Republic of the Rio Grande

A federalist rebel republic proclaimed at Laredo against Santa Anna's centralism, claiming Coahuila, Nuevo León and Tamaulipas — quietly abetted by Texas but crushed within ten months.

Collapsed on 6 November 1840 when its general, Antonio Canales Rosillo, surrendered to Mexican forces under Mariano Arista.
