Tibetan noble house that eclipsed the weakening Phagmodrupa regime to dominate much of Ü-Tsang from its base at Shigatse, patronizing the Karma Kagyu school against the Gelug.
Overthrown in 1565 by its own former retainer Karma Tseten, who founded the successor Tsangpa dynasty.
