The most culturally productive medieval Yemeni dynasty, whose sultans presided over a flourishing of literature, science, and agriculture before being overthrown by the Tahirid dynasty in 1454.

Overthrown by the Tahirid dynasty in 1454 CE when Tahirid brothers Amir and Ali bin Tahir seized Aden; the last Rasulid sultan al-Mas'ud Abu al-Qasim surrendered the throne to az-Zafir Amir bin Tahir and withdrew to Mecca, ending Rasulid rule in Yemen.
