Rampur State (Rohilla)

The one Rohilla (Afghan) principality left standing after the British-Awadh conquest of Rohilkhand, ruled from Rampur by the Nawabs descended from Faizullah Khan; a noted centre of Indo-Islamic scholarship (the Raza Library).

Survived as a 15-gun-salute princely state under British suzerainty; acceded to the Dominion of India in 1947 and merged into the United Provinces (Uttar Pradesh).
