Quillacinga

1535 – present
Native nationSouth America

People of the Atriz valley and the eastern Andean slope around Pasto, ringed by volcanoes and remembered in the petroglyphs they cut across the Juanambú and upper Mayo.

Encircled by the Spanish foundation of Pasto and ground down by the encomienda; their language vanished, yet Quillacinga descendant communities (Genoy, Mocondino, El Encano) persist around Pasto today.
