Querandí

Bola-throwing hunters of rhea and guanaco on the open pampa, the easternmost of the Het peoples, whose warriors shattered the first Buenos Aires in 1536 by cutting off its food.

Routed the Spanish twice yet were ground down by later expeditions and disease, and by the 1600s were folded into the catch-all 'Pampas' that absorbed the river-plate peoples.

• 1536 Querandí break the first Buenos Aires Querandí warriors defeat Diego de Mendoza on the Luján River on 15 June 1536 and starve out Pedro de Mendoza's settlement, forcing the abandonment of the first Buenos Aires within a few years.
