One of the six ancient South Arabian kingdoms (alongside Saba, Maʿin, Hadramawt, Himyar and Awsan), centered on Wadi Bayhan with its capital at Timna; grew wealthy on the frankincense/myrrh caravan trade after gaining independence from Saba in the late 5th century BCE.
Its territory was divided and annexed by the neighboring kingdoms of Hadramawt and Himyar in the late 1st century CE.
