The Qajar Dynasty ruled Iran through its most turbulent modern century, ceding territory to Russia and Britain while struggling to modernize, until Reza Shah Pahlavi's 1925 coup ended their reign.

Deposed by Reza Khan (later Reza Shah Pahlavi) who overthrew the last Qajar shah Ahmad Shah Qajar in 1925 CE through a parliamentary vote formally ending the dynasty and establishing the Pahlavi dynasty.
