Principality of Herat

Sadozai successor state of the Durrani Empire ruling Herat and the Hari Rud oasis as a buffer between Qajar Iran and the Barakzai emirs of Kabul; after 1842 ruled by the Alakozai vizier Yar Mohammad Khan, who had dethroned the last Sadozai, Shah Kamran.

Besieged and captured by Amir Dost Mohammad Khan of Kabul on 27 May 1863, ending Herat's separate existence and completing the Barakzai unification of Afghanistan.
