TheocracyEurope

The largest ecclesiastical state of north-west Germany, whose bishops claimed ducal power after Henry the Lion's fall and bought themselves a second country on the lower Ems.

Secularized by the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss in 1803 and broken up: the larger eastern share to Prussia, Vechta and Cloppenburg to Oldenburg, the remainder to Arenberg, Looz-Corswarem, Salm and Croÿ.
