A Malay Islamic sultanate founded in 1771 by Sultan Syarif Abdurrahman Alkadrie at the confluence of the Kapuas and Landak rivers; became a Dutch protectorate and was formally disestablished in 1950.
Its sultans reigned under Dutch protection until the sultanate was folded into the Republic of Indonesia in 1950.
