The archaeological tradition across the Great Plains between the Plains Archaic and the Plains Village period - limited gardening, early mound-building influenced by the Hopewell interaction sphere, and the first widespread ceramic cookware on the Plains.
Gradually succeeded by the Plains Village period (recorded alongside this entry) as village life, intensive maize/bean/squash horticulture, and earthlodge architecture spread across the region from roughly 900-1000 CE.
