Picts

Early medieval tribal confederation north of the Roman frontier in what is now Scotland, known from late-Roman sources and famous for carved symbol stones; merged into the Kingdom of Alba.

The Pictish kingdom merged with Dál Riata under the House of Alpin (traditionally 843 CE, Kenneth MacAlpin) to form the Kingdom of Alba (early Scotland); the Picts disappeared as a distinct ethnic and political identity.
