Phrygia

An Iron Age kingdom in west-central Anatolia, centered on the Sangarios River, that rose to prominence after the Bronze Age Collapse and reached its apogee under the legendary King Midas.

Ended as an independent kingdom c. 695 BCE when Cimmerian invaders sacked the capital Gordion and king Midas committed suicide; Phrygian territory subsequently came under Lydian hegemony c. 680 BCE.
