A confederation of five Philistine city-states (Gaza, Ashkelon, Ashdod, Ekron, Gath) on the southern Canaanite coast, settled by Aegean migrants c. 1175 BCE and destroyed by Nebuchadnezzar II in 604 BCE.

Conquered and destroyed by the Neo-Babylonian Empire under Nebuchadnezzar II in 604 BCE, who sacked and levelled Ashkelon and Ekron, executed or deported the Philistine kings, and ended the Philistine Pentapolis as a political entity.
