Panchala Kingdom

One of the most powerful Vedic states of north India, allied with the Kuru kingdom, later recognized as one of the sixteen Mahajanapadas after transformation into an oligarchic confederacy.

The Panchala kingdom was absorbed by the Nanda Empire under Mahapadma Nanda c. 345–321 BCE, regained independence after the Nanda collapse, and was finally and permanently conquered by the Gupta Empire under Samudragupta c. 350 CE, ending its existence as an independent polity.
