Pahang Sultanate (Old Pahang)

The Old Pahang Sultanate, established in 1470 as a Malacca appanage, controlled the entire Pahang River basin on the east coast and was an important power bordering Patani. Caught between Aceh and Johor in the early 17th century, it was effectively extinguished by 1623, its line absorbed into the Johor sphere. (A separate modern Pahang sultanate was refounded under the Bendahara line in 1881.)
