Founded by Gao Yang on the ruins of the Eastern Wei, the Northern Qi ruled eastern/northeastern China from Ye through six emperors noted for both cultural patronage and court instability.
Conquered by the Xianbei-led Northern Zhou in 577, briefly reuniting all of northern China under one Northern Dynasty before the Sui takeover of 581.
