Declared as the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 15 November 1983, after the Autonomous Turkish Cypriot Administration (1974) and the Turkish Federated State of Cyprus (1975). UN Security Council Resolution 541 rejected the declaration as legally invalid; Turkey remains the only state to recognise it.
