North Vietnam (Democratic Republic of Vietnam)

Hồ Chí Minh's republic, proclaimed in 1945 and sovereign north of the 17th parallel from the Geneva Accords — the victor of both Indochina wars.

Reunified with the conquered South as the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in July 1976.
