New Kingdom of Egypt

1550 BC – 1077 BC
EmpireAfrica

Egypt's imperial zenith (18th–20th Dynasties) of Hatshepsut, Akhenaten and Ramesses, ruling Nubia and the Levant.

The New Kingdom of Egypt (Dynasties 18–20, c. 1550–1077 BCE) declined through the weakening of the 20th Dynasty following the reign of Ramesses III, beset by the Sea Peoples' invasions, internal power struggles, and economic collapse; it gave way to the fragmented Third Intermediate Period c. 1077 BCE when the last Ramessid pharaoh, Ramesses XI, died.
