Moravian Serbia

1371 – 1402
PrincipalityEurope

The largest and most powerful of the regional principalities that emerged from the collapse of the Serbian Empire in 1371, built along the Morava river valley by Prince Lazar Hrebeljanović from his new seat at Kruševac; it became the leading Serbian successor state, absorbing much of central and eastern Serbia after 1379 and leading the coalition defeated by the Ottomans at Kosovo in 1389.

Elevated to the Serbian Despotate in 1402 when the Byzantine emperor granted Lazar's son Stefan Lazarević the title of despot — the same Lazarević dynasty continuing under a higher rank; the successor record (serbian_despotate) is already in the dataset (frames from 1402).
