Möng Mao

The strongest of the Shan (Tai) states that rose on the Yunnan-Myanmar border after the Mongol conquest of Pagan (1287); expanded dramatically under Si Kefa from the 1330s to dominate much of the northern Shan Plateau and raid Upper Burma.

Broken up by Ming Chinese military campaigns (1436-1449) that fragmented its territory into smaller Shan chieftaincies.
