Eastern breakaway half of the Chagatai Khanate, a Turco-Mongol Muslim khanate covering northwestern Xinjiang and Zhetysu (southeastern Kazakhstan), founded when the eastern Chagatayid nobles rejected Qazaghan's western regime.
Split in 1462 into the Turpan Khanate (east) and Yarkent Khanate (west) after succession disputes fragmented central authority.
