A warlike Guaycuruan horse people of the southern Chaco who raided the Santa Fe frontier from the middle Bermejo until the Jesuits gathered them at San Javier.
Reduced at San Javier (1743) and pushed south into Santa Fe, the Mocoví rose at Napalpí (1924) and were massacred; some 15,000 Moqoit endure in Chaco and northern Santa Fe, where their language is officially recognized.
