Mitanni

1500 BC – 1300 BC
KingdomAsia

A powerful Hurrian-ruled kingdom that dominated northern Syria and the upper Euphrates, rivaling Egypt before being dismembered by the Hittites and Assyrians in the 14th–13th centuries BC.

Progressively dismembered from the mid-14th century BCE: first by Hittite king Suppiluliuma I (c. 1355 BCE) who sacked the capital Washukanni and installed a vassal king, then finally absorbed by the Middle Assyrian Empire under Shalmaneser I c. 1250 BCE.
